DOUGLAS
2-WIRE SYSTEM
The DOUGLAS 2-WIRE SYSTEM is a Versatile and Flexible
Lighting Control Technology
The Douglas 2-wire system utilizes an ingenious
lighting control method that permits simple and minimal 24V
wiring. You can connect a switch, sensor or control device
with only ONE wire to the target relay. All functions for
control (ON, OFF, ON indication and OFF indication) are provided
with only one 24V control wire and a common.
The single control wire of the Douglas 2-wire system
greatly simplifies wiring and wiring management. For a six-switch
station, there are in total one common and six control wires.
Product Categories
A large family of products are available for controlling the Douglas 2-wire relay. Douglas 2-wire switches,
sensors and digital controls all utilize the 2-wire 24V control to operate the relay. In addition to the 2-wire
24V controls, digital switches, computer control and Internet control are also available.
The connection diagrams to the left illustrate types of 2-wire
circuits and the various lighting control options available.
The design of the Douglas 2-wire system supports a modular
approach. Thus, addition of more sophisticated products can
be easily accomplished for future expansion and upgrades.
There are 5 categories of 2-wire lighting controls:
Standard 2-wire 24V Devices: switches and sensors.
Standard 2-wire 24V Controls:
Scanners, group switching, basic time/photo automation.
Networking, Hardwired Bus: Panels networked with a simple, multi-conductor bus to expand the number of
panels (relays) controlled by a single group switch or timer/photocell channel.
Networking, Digital Bus: Panels networked with a 2-conductor data signal to expand the number of panels (relays)
controlled by a single group switch or timer/photocell channel. The digital bus also permits the use of digital controls.
Digital Controls (System Manager, PC Control): Telephone access, modem, IP and Internet control, and exterior BAS
are all available. The W-2000 components use LonWorks technology and can be controlled by any Building Automation System that
supports a LonMarked lighting control system.
Lighting Controls can be selected and combined as required for the application.
Start with basic panels and add devices, controls, network option and digital controls as required.
