Relays

The DOUGLAS 2-WIRE LATCHING RELAY is the Foundation of the Douglas 2-Wire Lighting Control System. Douglas 2-wire latching relays have several inherent features that are highly suitable for lighting controls.

Designed for Lighting Loads

Lighting loads are the harshest loads and require relay technology suited for the purpose. Relays or contactors that are not rated for lighting loads will wear out prematurely. Douglas relays are engineered for all types of lighting loads to give decades of reliable service.

 

Easy to Wire: Only 1 Control Wire to Connect

All Douglas relays use the same simple 2-wire control method. One control wire is all that is needed to switch the relay and to monitor the relay's state.

The single control wire permits easy wiring and wiring management. It is much easier to install and/or trace one control wire rather than a set of control wires.

 

Latching Relays are Powered ON and Powered OFF

There are a number of benefits derived from this feature:

  1. Once the relay is ON or OFF, it remains in that state and requires no control power to stay ON or OFF. Thus, should control power be disabled for any reason, the relay will not switch OFF.
  2. Many relays can use the same control power source (a transformer). Thus, wiring is simplified, as relays, switches and control devices can share the same common wire for power
  3. The same relay can be easily controlled with several devices:
    • wall switches
    • sensors
    • time-controlled devices
    • digital controls

Manual Override Lever and Indicator

A manual switch lever is built into each relay for easy operation at the panel. This is very useful during the installation phase when switches and controls are not powered or installed.

Douglas 2-Wire HID Relays

Douglas HID Relays are designed for all types of lighting loads including capacitor-corrected ballasted loads.

Douglas HID Relays are pre-assembled into the PWEx Series of Relay Panels. The PWEx Panels are available in sizes that can house from 6 to 72 relays.

Douglas 2-Wire KO Mount Relays

Douglas HID Relays are designed for all types of lighting loads and will provide years of reliable service.

KO Mount Relays can be mounted in a junction box or they can be installed into the WEx Series of Panels. The WEx Panels are available in size that can house from 6 to 72 relays.
